Budgeting for a wedding has become slightly easier over the years with the introduction of many more internet sites providing DIY and expert advice on how to create various looks for a fraction of the cost. Amongst the top DIY ideas for weddings – decor is a major area where brides can make a saving with some creative input from friends and family. Many more brides nowadays make their own invitations, decorations and centre-pieces and the trend for a rustic look has given way to a noticeable increase in DIY wedding styling.

With venue costs averaging about £595 – this is another area where the bride and groom can definitely make a saving. The recent trend for outdoor weddings is also allowing brides to make a substantial saving on the venue cost itself…brides in 2015 are planning inventive ways of creating a rustic look with a forest wedding, a garden affair or even a seafront ceremony. Remember, if you are not having a church ceremony you may need to apply for permission to get married in an outdoor venue.

4. Borrow a necklace or bracelet from family or friends as your ‘Something Borrowed’

5. Choose a pair of shoes in silver or gold which you can wear after the wedding day or find a pair of dyeable wedding shoes which you can have dyed after the wedding so they can be used again
