Gatsby Glamour Bridal Headpieces

Gatsby Glamour Bridal Headpiece

Gatsby Glamour Bridal Headpiece

The Art Deco and The Great Gatsby movie influence is still strong within the bridal industry. After quite a few years of Deco beaded gowns, feathers and luxury Twenties headpieces and pearls, bridal accessory designers are creating even more Deco inspired hair accessories and wedding jewellery for the modern bride. The glamourous aspect of this era of design is perfect for the bride who wants to create an ultra glamorous bridal look. Some brides might choose just one Deco inspired accessory to add a hint of vintage to their overall look whereas other brides might desire a thoroughly detailed re-creation of Deco design with a beaded gown, marabou shrug and flamboyant Gatsby inspired accessories.

Carey Mulligan who starred in The Great Gatsby as the heroine Daisy Buchanan offered plenty of inspiration to bridal accessory designers. The hand bracelets with luxury pearl and crystal embellishment and the statement Gatsby plumed headpiece have since been re-created in many forms and variations. The latest addition to our online boutique is the Gatsby Glamour Bridal headpiece – a stunning imitation design with a striking crystal studded plume, intricate pearl and crystal florettes and dangling pearl chains. This beautiful Gatsby inspired headband is easy to wear and ideal to accent an updo or loose hairstyle for the bride-to-be. The headpiece can be worn on its own or combined with other strongly themed deco inspired bridal accessories such as a Marabou shrug, Twenties design earrings or a string of opera length pearls and even an Art deco beaded wedding gown!

Brides can choose to incorporate as little or as much Twenties Gatsby styling into their bridal look as they wish…however, this era was known for its luxury and opulence so we definitely feel that the bride who wants a Gatsby theme wedding simply cannot have enough Twenties deco accessories!

Vintage Bridal Shrugs

Vintage Bridal Shrugs

The vintage bride – a subtle glamour which exudes delicate sparkle, luxurious elements and Hollywood inspired styling. Brides looking for the ultimate vintage wedding accessory to complement their Art Deco beaded wedding gown will adores our latest arrival of sumptuous Ostrich Feather bridal shrugs or Marabou shrugs for ultimate elegance. The ivory tones and textured feathers create a beautiful contrast against the sparkle in a vintage gown and add an element of true luxury to this look.

The vintage bridal look can be tailored to every bride in a slightly different way although the elements of this style remain essentially the same. Make-up should be kept sleek with big lashes and bold lips – bold lips are a must if you have chosen a birdcage veil. A vintage headpiece can be almost anything you want – as long as it is intricate, incorporates vintage inspired motifs and is crafted using a mix of elements such as pearls, beads or crystals. Jewellery can be as subtle as a pair of pearl stud earrings or as sparkly as a crystal cuff bracelet or chandelier earrings. The key component of a vintage bridal look, however, is the combination of textures, materials and sparkle to create an overall feel of opulence. The ley is to keep it feminine and detailed.

Brides can easily re-create the glamour of old Hollywood starlets by adding one or two authentic accessories to their look – the Ostrich feather shrug is the ideal accessory for this look. The Vintage trend has been very popular in the bridal industry for many years and it looks as if there is still plenty of inspiration on offer from this affluent era for brides for many more years to come.

Oscars 2015 Cuff Bracelet Trends

Oscars 2015 Jewellery Trends

Oscars 2015 Jewellery Trends

The Oscars 2015 was full of luxe diamond jewellery from earrings to cuffs – creating the perfect accent for the stunning designer gowns on display! The most prominent jewellery trend on the red-carpet seemed to be bracelets and cuffs and especially layering a few of them to create a statement accessory. Miranda Kerr demonstrated this beautifully with her cut-away gown’s metallic stripes offset with chunky jewels – gorgeous sparkly cuffs layered onto one wrist and bold floral motif earrings. A simple side swept hair style prevented the look from being overdone.

A Swarovski crystal or Cubic Zirconia cuff bracelet creates the perfect balance with an evening or wedding gown. The distance between any jewellery around your neck or earrings means that it doesn’t matter how chunky your wrist detail is it will still look balanced. For a one shoulder wedding gown – we always recommend that the cuff be worn on the opposite side of the shoudler detail – again, it’s all about creating a balance with your accessories! Dakota Johnson looked simply stunning in her one shoulder, scarlet red dress with knotted silver feature on the shoulder and her cuff bangles co-ordinated perfectly on the opposite arm.

Oscars 2015 Jewellery Trends

The Oscars 2015 red-carpet displayed some of the beautiful gowns by designers of this year. One trend emerged as key which was also prominent on the bridal catwalks for this season – luxury embellishment! The celebrity gowns featured all kinds of exquisite beading, sequins, embroidery, crystals and ornate detailing for maximum impact – Rita Ora’s navy blue fishtail was no exception!

A beautiful, deep navy blue number accented with the most beautiful scroll embellishment at the top and side. With a gown as stunningly intricate as this…the jewellery must be just as detailed. Mimic the effect of fine jewellery with a pair of Swarovski crystal rose gold chandelier drops with detailed scroll motifs and classic teardrop cubic zirconia. The Josephine earrings offer the perfect tone to complement gold detail in a dress with a subtle and utterly on trend rose gold finish. The vintage inspired scrolls are perfect co-ordinate with similar details on an evening or wedding gown finishing the overall look to perfection!

Oscars 2015 – Coloured Satin Shoes

Oscars 2015 Coloured Satin Wedding Shoes

Oscars 2015 Coloured Satin Wedding Shoes

The Oscar’s 2015 ceremony was full of beautiful gowns…but even more beautiful shoes! Amongst the stunning array of Jimmy Choo’s and other designer brands…there seemed to be a prominent trend for coloured satin footwear. With an ever increasing demand for unusual coloured red-carpet gowns it seems that gold and silver is not the only option for shoes and bags.

Coloured satin shoes are ideal for a celebrity-style look with a full length gown because the matching colour will create a sleek line and not detract from the tone of the dress itself. Emma Stone’s Chartreuse Yellow gown was utterly stunning with the exquisite mesh detailing and beaded embellishment. It is no wonder with such an on-trend and unusual colour, the actress chose not to detract from the look by adding a seamless effect pair of matching satin sandals. Beautiful hues of red and duck egg blue gowns were also on display with matching satin strap sandals in the same colour.

This stunning effect for special occasion footwear is best created by dyeing a pair of satin or silk shoes to match your gown to perfection! A colour match service by Benjamin Adams or Rainbow Club will hand dye a pair of heels to any fabric swatch and the results are simply brilliant! The dyeing service is ideal for a luxury event, parties, eveningwear and – of course – weddings and offers women the opportunity to create a bespoke pair of shoes for themselves!

How to Save Money on your Wedding

Wedding Spend Infographic by 2014 Brides

Wedding Spend Infographic by Sainsbury’s Bank

Planning a wedding for 2015? Your budget will determine how much you can spend on everything from venue to dress and accessories to entertainment – but how does your budget compare to the average spend of a bride in the UK and where can you cut costs to reduce the budget as much as possible?

Sainsbury’s Bank has produced a useful infographic for brides-to-be with Top 10 Wedding Expenses which the 2014 bride spent on her wedding day. It will not be a surprise to many couples that venue, food and drink and the honeymoon were the biggest budget items. Amongst the other top expenses were a band for entertainment, photo and video costs, rings and – of course – the dress itself! The 2014 statistics provide current brides with an idea on how much they should allocate to each of these expenses but also shows clearly areas where brides can perhaps save some money.

Budgeting for a wedding has become slightly easier over the years with the introduction of many more internet sites providing DIY and expert advice on how to create various looks for a fraction of the cost. Amongst the top DIY ideas for weddings – decor is a major area where brides can make a saving with some creative input from friends and family. Many more brides nowadays make their own invitations, decorations and centre-pieces and the trend for a rustic look has given way to a noticeable increase in DIY wedding styling.

With venue costs averaging about £595 – this is another area where the bride and groom can definitely make a saving. The recent trend for outdoor weddings is also allowing brides to make a substantial saving on the venue cost itself…brides in 2015 are planning inventive ways of creating a rustic look with a forest wedding, a garden affair or even a seafront ceremony. Remember, if you are not having a church ceremony you may need to apply for permission to get married in an outdoor venue.

With the top ten expenses using a huge amount of the wedding budget…this leaves the budget for bridal accessories a little lower down the cost list. With careful planning, brides can still create their dream look with stunning wedding accessories with these money saving tips:

1. Choose a satin bridal shoe range such as Pink Paradox or Rainbow Else which are priced for affordability from only £49

2. Opt for stunning Swarovski crystal or cubic zirconia costume jewellery which mimics the sparkle and beauty of real diamond jewels!

3. Choose a statement headpiece and minimal other accessories to make your hair a feature and create a special bridal look

4. Borrow a necklace or bracelet from family or friends as your ‘Something Borrowed’

5. Choose a pair of shoes in silver or gold which you can wear after the wedding day or find a pair of dyeable wedding shoes which you can have dyed after the wedding so they can be used again

Glass Slipper designs unveiled for the NEW Cinderella Movie!

Cinderella Glass Slipper Stuart Weitzman

Cinderella Glass Slipper Stuart Weitzman

It’s nearly here – the much anticipated release of the popular fairytale Cinderella in March 2015! Designers in the footwear industry have also been excited about the new Disney release by putting forward a collection of designs for the ideal ‘glass slipper’ from the story. The Cinderella shoe collection was unveiled at the Berlin Film Festival yesterday and the designs are truly spectacular!

A range of luxury shoe creations by designers all across the globe including Manolo Blahnik, Stuart Weitzman,Jimmy Choo and Rene Caovilla to name a few. “We’re delighted to reveal the collection for the first time here in Berlin; it is a wonderful moment for everyone involved in this spectacular global project,” said David Lee, director, footwear, The Walt Disney Company EMEA. The collection will inspire women everywhere with a dream glass slipper from the movie each with it’s own style and modern elements.

Our favourite is the Stuart Weitzman offering – an utterly contemporary shoe boot with translucent mesh and the most beautiful scattering of Swarovski crystal sparkle all the way from the toe up to the ankle. This footwear design may be inspired by a fairytale but is truly wearable and utterly practical for the modern day bride! Other top designs included a perspex court by Paul Andrew with AB rainbow sparkle and a gorgeously flamboyant bow detail pump by Nicholas Kirkwood.

Our favourite designs from the collection – which will be available only in selected stores including Harrods – were the ones with Swarovski stone embellishment (of course)! For a less exclusive wedding shoe with just as much impact…brides might consider a Benjamin Adams style such as Sylvie. It has been a while since Alfred Angelo launched a range of fairytale princess gowns…and now we have the shoe collection to match. For any bride to be who wants a unique touch for her wedding – this is the ultimate accessory!

Baftas 2015 Wedding Colour Trend Blush

Baftas 2015 Wedding Colour Trend Blush

The hottest colour trend on the Baftas 2015 red-carpet has to be….blush pink! A gorgeous, feminine hue of pastel nude with pink undertones is the colour to be seen in for the statement bride who dares to be different! The bridal catwalks for this season were simply full of pastel pink, baby pink and blush wedding gowns by top bridal designers including Monique Lhuillier amongst others.

Blush pink – this beautiful, soft colour translates well into bridal accessories too from headpieces to flowers, from shoes to handbags. Top accessory designers in the wedding industry have started introducing colours into their pieces and it’s being received very well by brides-to-be. Harriet Wilde – luxury wedding shoe designer – launched two styles for 2015 in a delicate pink – Honey lace insert boots and a pair of Chantilly Lace Jasmine Wedding Flats. The use of pretty lace fabrics in her footwear styles make Harriet Wilde shoes perfect for the Boho or Vintage bride looking for a modern touch in her accessories. The leather finish adds quality whilst the the careful crafting and designer label offer a luxe pair of wedding shoes for the bride who wants to be noticed.

Accessory designers such as Lily Bella have also starting using pinks and blush tones in their hair accessories. The Diana Blush Feather Headpiece is the perfect example of how romantic hints of colour can add interest to your look. The feathers are so on trend for 2015 and combined with the blush tones, vintage styling and the oh so popular birdcage veil – this has to be the most sought after headpiece for fashionable brides!

With plenty of looks to inspire brides planning a wedding this year…the overall feel is romance, feminine fabric inspired footwear and utterly classic jewellery styles!
